The Symptoms of Car Accident Injuries You May Not Notice Until Later

On Behalf of | Feb 8, 2017 | Car Accidents |

Being injured in a car accident is a traumatic event in and of itself, but often times there are symptoms that do not manifest themselves immediately.

It is not uncommon for individuals to be in car wrecks and initially believe that they are indeed not injured.  First and foremost, if you have been in any car wreck, a physician should check you out.  If you fail to treat immediately that does not mean you don’t have a case.  Regularly, individuals do not notice that they are having any post car accident symptoms for days or even weeks later.  This is largely due to people having a rush of adrenaline and/or simply thinking they are sore and they will eventually recover.

Aching and Soreness

If a person starts to notice any post car accident symptoms, such as aching or soreness in any body part, that person needs to follow up with a doctor immediately.  Let me stress that trying to be tough and/or thinking symptoms will just go away is a faulty maneuver. The longer that an individual waits to receive treatment the more likely it is that an insurance company will deny your claim for physical injuries.

Anxiety and Depression

A car wreck is a traumatic experience.  Car wrecks not only cause physical symptoms, but car wrecks cause mental issues as well.  Commonly, individuals are in car wrecks that can lead to anxiety-related issues.  These problems can include riding in a car, passing the site of an accident and/or generalized anxiety or depression.  These post car accident symptoms often don’t manifest for days, weeks or months after a car wreck. If you have never suffered from anxiety and/or depression prior to an auto accident and you have a sudden onset of anxiety and/or depression, contact your doctor or a mental health professional immediately.  Likewise, if you have suffered mental health issues prior to an accident, but notice an increase in symptoms, contact your doctor or a mental health professional immediately. If you have been injured in a car accident and want to speak with an attorney, contact Edwards & Kautz Law Firm at 866-795-5087.
